Girum and his wife Aster, founded Grace Community Education Centre after visiting Njathaini and seeing children in the streets with no one caring for them, feeding them or making sure they were in school. GCEC began with a rented room, one teacher and the neediest children of the village. The next year, Girum and Aster identified more children in the most dire straights and added them to a new classroom.
Though both from Ethiopia, God has done big things through Girum and Aster in the past 25 years they have been in Kenya. With each year GCEC is running, a new classroom is added. There are now 10 classrooms, 10 teachers, three supporting staff and 140 students being cared for at the school.
